Hi, I’m Valerie. Believe it or not, cooking used to terrify me.

When I was younger, I managed to set my mom’s kitchen on fire twice, trying to make simple meals by myself. Let’s just say… my “culinary confidence” took a while to develop.

When I arrived at college and later as an adult, food became both a challenge and a source of comfort. Three years ago, I had the bariatric sleeve, and it completely changed my relationship with eating. I realized that food didn’t have to be complicated or scary. It could be nourishing, creative, and healing.

Today, home-cooked meals help me maintain my weight and feel stronger, lighter, and more connected to my body than ever before. My kitchen is no longer a danger zone. Now, it’s my happy place.
